VERIFY THE FILE, LOCALLY

Check your Android download’s digital fingerprint.

An APK is the installation file for an Android app. A hash, also called a checksum, is a file’s digital fingerprint. SHA-256 is the method used here to create that fingerprint: a string of 64 letters (a–f) and numbers (0–9). This is not the # symbol or a password.

How to check your download: ask SafeGuard support for the official SHA-256 fingerprint for your exact app version. Select your downloaded APK below, paste that trusted fingerprint into the second field, then choose “Calculate & compare.” This page calculates your file’s fingerprint on your device; the file is not uploaded.

What the result means: a match means the downloaded file matches the trusted fingerprint you entered. A mismatch means the file or reference value is different—do not install it; contact support. A match alone does not prove an app is safe or that the reference came from SafeGuard, so always obtain the official value directly from SafeGuard support.

The official fingerprint for the app download has not been supplied yet. Ask SafeGuard support for the value for your exact app version. You cannot complete this check without a trusted reference.

THREE STEPS. ONE CONNECTED CIRCLE.

Let’s get you
set up.

Open the app and work through this guide. Configure your circle before you need it.

01
YOUR ACCOUNT

Create & verify.

  1. Enter your 10-digit US mobile number in (XXX) XXX-XXXX format.
  2. Enter the six-digit SMS verification code.
  3. Set your private four-digit Emergency PIN.
  4. Optionally add your encrypted Medical ID, such as blood type and severe allergies.
Keep your PIN private. It is used to disarm alerts and stop timers.
02
YOUR TRUSTED PEOPLE

Add your circle.

  1. Choose trusted contacts individually or enter their details manually.
  2. Set contact priorities and explain what a SafeGuard alert means.
  3. Ask each contact to review the invitation and make their own SMS consent choice. Adding a phone number does not provide consent.
  4. Automated SMS alerts require the recipient’s affirmative consent. Consent is optional, and recipients can reply STOP to opt out. Read the SMS program terms and Privacy Policy.
Contacts don’t need the app to open web tracking links. Availability depends on your plan.
03
YOUR DEVICE SETTINGS

Check permissions.

  1. Allow location access for active safety sessions.
  2. Enable notifications for alerts and check-in reminders.
  3. On Android, review battery optimization settings.
  4. Enable biometrics for your Evidence Vault.
Review each permission below. Names and settings paths vary by device.
PERMISSIONS WITH A PURPOSE

Stay connected.
Stay in control.

Know what each permission does—and how it supports the features you choose.

⌖

Background location

Choose “Allow all the time” or the equivalent background-location option so active tracking can continue when the screen locks. Labels vary by operating system.

The supplied privacy policy states that GPS is dormant while the app is idle; location is used for active SOS, check-ins, and route sharing.
◉

Push notifications

Allow notifications for safety alerts, check-in reminders, and timer updates.

Review device notification settings if reminders are not appearing.
♧

Contacts access

Allow access to select trusted contacts quickly, or enter their details manually.

The supplied policy says only the contacts you choose are imported, not your entire address book.
▣

Microphone & camera · optional

Enable these if you want to record audio, photos, or video in the private Evidence Vault.

Use recording features only when intended and permitted. Evidence storage depends on your plan.
↯

Battery settings · Android

Open Settings → Apps → SafeGuard Each Other → Battery and look for Unrestricted or Don’t optimize. Paths vary by device.

Allowing background activity helps avoid interruption by battery-saving features. Keep your phone charged.
◇

Face ID / fingerprint

Enable biometric authentication for unlocking the Evidence Vault and sensitive settings.

Biometric checks are handled by your device; the supplied policy states biometric templates are not collected.
PRACTICE BEFORE YOU NEED IT

A safe way
to try your SOS.

In the app, open Settings → Practice & Demo Mode and choose Launch Interactive SOS Simulation.

  1. Hold the red SOS button for 1.5 seconds and experience progressive haptic feedback.
  2. Explore the armed screen, siren, and simulated audio waveform.
  3. Practice cancelling during the five-second grace period.
Practice mode sends no real SMS alerts or phone calls.

Real activation supports a deliberate hold or five rapid taps. Check that you are in Practice & Demo Mode before testing.

!

Your circle is powerful. Emergency services are essential.
SafeGuard Each Other alerts your chosen contacts. It does not replace 911 or official emergency dispatch. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911 directly.

CONNECTIVITY

Keep your signal in mind.

SMS fallback is designed to help when mobile data fails, but still needs carrier service. No network means no guaranteed message delivery.

POWER & POSITION

Your phone is part of the system.

Keep it charged. GPS can be less accurate underground or inside dense buildings; permissions and operating-system settings also affect performance.

DOWNLOAD & ONBOARDING FAQS

Start with
clear answers.

Why does Android show an unknown-app or Play Protect warning?+

An APK downloaded outside Google Play may require permission to install from that browser or file manager. An unknown-source prompt and a Play Protect harmful-app warning are different. If Play Protect blocks the file as unsafe, stop and ask support to verify the release rather than disabling protection. Only install a release from a source you trust.

How can I verify the APK’s SHA-256 checksum?+

Choose the downloaded APK in the verifier above. It calculates SHA-256 locally without uploading your file. Compare the result with a trusted checksum supplied by SafeGuard support. A matching hash confirms identical bytes; it does not, by itself, establish that an app is safe. No official checksum was included with this download link.

Why is background location requested?+

An active SOS or route-sharing session may need to continue after the screen locks. Background access helps support this. According to the supplied privacy policy, location tracking is dormant when the app is idle and you are safe.

What should I expect for battery use?+

The supplied release guide reports less than 1% battery use over 24 idle hours. That figure has not been independently measured here and will vary with your phone, settings, network, and usage. Active GPS, recording, and live streaming use more power.

Do emergency contacts need the app?+

No app installation is needed to open a secure web tracking link in a browser. Universal web live tracking is included in the Family and Elite plans; the Essential Guardian plan has its own contact and tracking limits.

How do I check that my contacts are configured?+

Open the Contacts tab, review each number and priority, and use Send Verification to confirm the guardian role. A test alert may send a real message—tell your contact first. For practice without real notifications, use Settings → Practice & Demo Mode.

Are App Store and Google Play downloads available here?+

The App Store, TestFlight, and Google Play URLs have not yet been provided. Those buttons show the current setup status. The standalone Android APK link is available above.
